Crossy Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Hi Folks, I have had my Merry Fisher 625 at Cobbs since I bought the boat back in July and am paid up there until the end of March. I am reasonably happy with it there other than the fact that I have a long walk right to the end of F pontoon to get to the boat which is a bit of a fag. They won't offer me a closer mooring as I am on a discounted rate. The other thing that is a bit of a nuisance is the second bridge they are building, I could see this becoming a bit of a pain. As a result I am just looking round to see whether there are any other options or if in fact I am better off just putting up with the long pontoon treck and the bridges. During my search I came across Rockley Boat Park which looks promising as it is south of the bridges and not masses more money than Cobbs. Does anyone on here park up at Rockley and if so do people use the swinging, pontoon or dry stack? I have never been on a swinging mooring before so I could see this being a bit of a nuisance but the dry stack and pontoon moorings appeal. Just after some other peoples experiences. Cheers, Andrew Quote
Graham Nash Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 There are LOTS of club boats at Rockley Andrew. I personally find them very good down there, the only "minus" is the distance from the harbour entrance (which at least gives the crew plenty of time to wash the decks down during the summer months, when the speed limits make it a half hour journey). Many of us use their lift facility, phone them up and by the time you get there its in the water ready or just turn up and maybe have to wait 15 minutes or so. Return and tie up to the pontoon and they lift it back out some time pretty soon (normally). I also find them a pretty friendly bunch down there too but I think security could be better. It works for me. Graham. Quote
conger king Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 why dont you go and have a chat with dave about your conserners he his a nice bloke and will help and remember they have a lot more room at the moment as every one seems to be selling their boats good luck with this issue Quote
Maverick Martin Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I am also at Rockley on stack and store and am very happy so far. If you want to find out more go see them or ask specific questions on here or phone me for a general chat about the facilities. Will you be at the next meeting? could chat then Martin Quote
Crossy Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks for the replies all, Yes Martin, I am going to try to make it down for the next meeting so will pick your brains then. To be honest I like the idea of the boat being out of the water and and away from vandals up on a stack it just makes me nervous watching these boats being moved around on fork lifts. However, I have watched them doing it at Cobbs and it is quite impressive. Hope to catch up with you at the meeting, Andrew Quote
plaicemat Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Martin will also tell you about being away from vandals on the stack and store. Terry. Quote
