TomBettle Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Effing ridiculous system in my very humble opinion! Why can't they just use traffic lights exactly as in the road? We all know what they mean, they are universally understood. Quote

niggle Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Might be worth going down on a bank holiday and just spectate Quote
Rob Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Translated: If only Red showing don't go. Otherwise go (cautiously if yellow showing). Quote
great white Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 You have to wonder why they have red and flashing red , when both mean that you can not go through. and surely if it is green with the [Fairly obvious] bridge down you would proceed with caution. You have to wonder how long it took PHC to come up with this rubbish Quote
Rob Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Isn't this the international signal system for bridges etc? And remember, PHC got it wrong in their first ediditon of the publication regarding the order and meaning! Quote
Brian Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Isn't this the international signal system for bridges etc? Yes, doesn't mean it's sensible. All that means is it was decided by committee, which guarantees they've had to compromise to try and please everyone. When the international system for traffic lights is just 3 lights. Which people understand. Should be entertaining in the summer, when the Birmingham Navy arrive. Quote
diverdave Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Presumably for use at peak times when the holding pond gets full ? Could get very interesting on a big spring ebb or flood. Quote
djredrupp Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Go down to the bridge with a flashing multicoloured disco light, a video camera, and watch the carnage.... haha Dan Quote
