Jamie W Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Hi Everyone... After all the bad news of thefts lately, I thought i'd share my setup.. Had it for around 3 months now.. Basically its a alarm, that texts/rings upto 5 assigned number's once it has been activated by a thief!! Obviously the 12v battery juice is always the problem when there's no power source.. So i got a decent solar panel/regulator. Attached to battery 2... The battery condition has stayed perfect for the last 3 months ;-), with the alarm always on.... It can have pir/sensor's and loads of other bits... So far its been 100% with my tests... it also has a loud siren.. Not that this stops them, and neither does the alarm ringing me, but at least i'll know.. I can ring the alarm and send commands via mobile, Listen in on my boat as it has a microphone built in.. i use a O2 payg sim, Loaded with a tenner ;-) Probably spent Quote
Rob Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Does it have gps? I have something on JoJo, but being open pir's aren't much use!!!! The one I have uses text messaging for alerts and you can txt it to request location, speed, direction etc and gps/mobile signal strength and whether it is running on main (boat) or internal battery. The great thing is you can have it kill the engine with the right command and set a perimeter from where you left it. If it moves more than 200ft from that location it let's me know (the number of times I have motored off and it sent me a text!!!! I think it has a panci button and door open / closed alert, that could be used with pir's or pressure mats on a bigger craft. I do have a Quote
Jim Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Do they make them suitable for plant pots ? Quote

Rob Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 This one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Vehicle-Real...l-/290675755173 Though mine doesn't have the remote fob. It the main unit is the same and the box. It will require a reasonably sized solar panel to ensure it doesn't flatten your battery. It draws 80ma I think. Hth, Rob Quote
Rob Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I added one of these after I popped some component in the tracker!!!! I think it was when I had a bad battery which caused the basic lighting coil (not alternator) on my Yam to give a high voltage jolt! http://www.sourcingmap.com/low-power-suppl...paign=ukfroogle Rob Quote
