alun j.
There's a little break in the wind tomorrow...allbeit a colder day, a big tide and short lived !! An opportunity to get a few of the last flounders before they go off to spawn. I've been trawling the net for more info on their movements and found this , which may interest a few of you ... Stuie
Interesting read Alun - suggests they spend 11 months in the estuaries.
great white
Good luck tomorrow mate I hear that the entrance at Christchurch is a bit shallow, perhaps these big tides and lighter winds will clear it out a bit.

Steve S
Thanks for the article on flounder and in part plaice movements Alun, I found it an interesting (if dry) read, much of it was new to me. Steve
alun j.
According to that and another paper I found, the timing of migration is temperature dependant. In colder years they move away earlier [and my experience concurs with that over the past couple of cold ones]....so, with the mild weather this winter, I hope they stay a bit later [i have had good catches in early Feb., but never as late as the school half term hol. in mid Feb]. Hope to give it a couple more goes [with a bit more confidence].
