There's a little break in the wind tomorrow...allbeit a colder day, a big tide and short lived !!

 

An opportunity to get a few of the last flounders before they go off to spawn.

 

I've been trawling the net for more info on their movements and found this , which may interest a few of you ...

Thanks for the article on flounder and in part plaice movements Alun, I found it an interesting (if dry) read, much of it was new to me.

According to that and another paper I found,  the timing of migration is temperature dependant.  In colder years they move away earlier [and my experience concurs with that over the past couple of cold ones]....so, with the mild weather this winter, I hope they stay a bit later [i have had good catches in early Feb.,  but never as late as the school half term hol. in mid Feb]. Hope to give it a couple more goes  [with a bit more confidence].
