Paul when we go to Alderney I leave my inflatable in it's bag below decks and inflate on arrival then leave on the mooring for the duration.  I would assume you could do the same in St Pete's.  The water taxi really does have a mind of it's own it is/was very hit and miss.  If I were going I would take it just in case or borrow/share Steves

Thanks guys, we will do our best!

I'm also starting to think of not being it too much of a rush tomorrow, getting better as the day moves on but not less than a F4. We will decide tonight I think and then last review in the morning.

Have a great trip guys, if only it was two weeks later we'd be with you - would have been a perfect shakedown for the new boat!

Hope you catch lots (no need to say it but have fun!).

If it helps, the approach I use is to use the information sources trusted by Coastguards, with checks evening before and just before a crossing :

Overall for the whole trip across: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/marine/shipping_forecast.html#All~Portland

UK side to 12 miles out: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/marine/inshore_forecast.html#SelseyBilltoLymeRegis

Mid channel actuals: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=62103

Channel Islands to 12 miles out: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/marine/inshore_forecast.html#ChannelIslands

With the southerly expected, I'd also plan to avoid the wider Alderney Race area during the middle of the ebb.

Good luck with making the right decisions!

Steve,

Recent reports are a bit dissaponting to be fair - the flats seem well down on numbers and the wrecking seems to be blighted by dirty water.

I havent seen a single report raving about the fishing yet....

The weather will definatly stop an early start tomorrow - but we are hopeful of a get away Fri afternoon or even Sat morning.

Bloody weather - howling out there this morning.

The rest of the 3 days doesnt look to bad - but reminds me of 2011 - as Martin says a F4 on the nose for 4/5 hours isnt too nice. Its really borderline for me.....
