Jim Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 My Brother bought something similar from the boat show about 5 years ago. Different design though. Worked OK for a while and then broke. This one looks a better design. Very good and VERY useful to us boaters. Jim Quote
SWELLBOY Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 These are avaible from Roche Marine for £130. ouch" and studying the video in slow motion it looks like it transfers a horseshoe shaped carriage from one side to the other driven by the upward and downward pressure of the pull or push. What is a bit worrying is they are also selling spare heads for these units which suggests they may have a history of failure. Quote
Steve S Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 I am sure these will do the job but the problem is they are all a bit complicated at the business end which by its very nature is going to get bashed around a bit. I did think about getting one a year or so back for mooring to a ring on a swinging mooring decided in the end I would just manage with a hook and a bit stretching. Quote
ChrisE Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 These have been about in the yatching world for a good few years now and yes they work and yes they break especially if you load them in a blow. I've personally stayed clear for the reason that they are a one trick pony and don't much like gadgets with a sole purpose. Quote
