Tragic accident for the young crew member who is still in hospital with head injuries, can someone please explain to me why the pilot felt it necessary to test a prototype so close to a cardinal mark with a mixed crew in the Solent at 80mph.

Hard to explain, buoys are fixed and not a surprise

I have played with formula Honda Powerboats which do 55knots

But we keep out of Soton water and use the Solent

Hope the lad recovers from his experience

Dad did well to rescue him from the overturned boat

As one of the busiest waterways in the World and with open sea just minutes away I was wondering if members thought this speed is justifiable in this area.

BTW as an ex motorcyclist I love a bit of speed as the Dorset constabulary have just reminded me with a penalty notice :(
