Mal Thomas Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 Tragic accident for the young crew member who is still in hospital with head injuries, can someone please explain to me why the pilot felt it necessary to test a prototype so close to a cardinal mark with a mixed crew in the Solent at 80mph. fisherman1055 Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 Hard to explain, buoys are fixed and not a surprise I have played with formula Honda Powerboats which do 55knots But we keep out of Soton water and use the Solent Hope the lad recovers from his experience Dad did well to rescue him from the overturned boat Tony, Quote
Maverick Martin Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/1294..._Southampton/# I can't explain Mal but as we don't know the details I don't feel we can comment either Quote
Maverick Martin Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 As I understand it from other sites the boat didn't hit the buoy until after it flipped so teh buoy did not cause the accident Quote
Mal Thomas Posted May 14, 2015 Author Report Posted May 14, 2015 As one of the busiest waterways in the World and with open sea just minutes away I was wondering if members thought this speed is justifiable in this area. BTW as an ex motorcyclist I love a bit of speed as the Dorset constabulary have just reminded me with a penalty notice Jim and Kingfisher 126 2 Quote

Kingfisher 126 Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Hope all ends well for him. High speeds on a new boat so close in, not a lot of time for any errors and it looks a real powerful boat in the pictures. Mal Thomas 1 Quote
