I am the safety officer and its always good to find out your skill levels on a boat ,your skills may be needed in an emergency even though you are going to crew most of the time, you might like to think about a competent crew days training if you feel it might be necessary. The situation may arise when you may need to man the helm and pilot the boat, call for help ect, we have all done this training or similar and always found it valuable.
