Adam F Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 When boat builders experiance a bear edge of fibreglass, a 'U' shaped strip is often used to cover the edge and make a neat finish. I cant find this anywhere??.... What is it called? I want to use some to seal some lockers on the boat from water ingress...any other ideas? Can I buy a sealant strip especially for this purpose? plaicemat Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 You should be able to buy U section edging strip from motor factors. It usually comes in 4mtr rolls and is used by owners of old type minis to go round wheel arches. Of course, it will be dependent on the thickness of the material you need to cover. Hope this helps. Adam When I was a boat builder we used a company called Wilkes for these kind of products. Used to be very helpful guys & gals there. CLICK FOR WILKES They also do lots of different fendering if you check their home page. Cheers - Jack Quote

Newboy Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 If it is corners you want to fill and seal, how about those 'L' shape bath seals? Some has double sided tape and some you just use sealant to seal it. Quote
Paul D Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Adam, If you have any left over I need a piece of "u" section to run along the edge of my front hatch ( The original edging fell off and sunk in the sea ) . I am happy to go halves. Quote
