Adam F
The trail-away 'hardcore' ventured out this morning despite the poor forecast, we reckoned on the small weather window until midday for a bit of plaice fishing. Blue Warrior, Maverick and Fat Chance luanched from Weymouth at 7am. The run out to the banks was fine, but the wind has increased from the F1 at 5am to a 2/3 at 8am by the time we reached the mark, but we still managed nearly top speed all the way out. The sun shone and the sea was still OK - maybe we should have let the trail-away go head I pondered???.... Gordon was quick off the mark with a Plaice the 1st drift - shortly follwed by one on Maverick and another on Fat Chance by Tony's crew. Gordon then had another the next drift and it looked to be a good day. Alas the fishing and indeed the weather was as they forecast. We took another 4 plaice on BW between us and a few more to the other guys, but by 12pm the wind was a good F4/5 under a slate grey sky with rain in the air - it was blo%%dy cold stood out in it also (Martin will tell you!!) We called it a day at 12.30pm and had a rollercoaster ride back to the Hood at 20 knots - where we had a few drifts for pollock and wrasse. Good to get out on a day where we usually would have stayed at home, and chuffed that we found the small window in the weather. Adam
Sam
maybe it was a good idea to cancel the trailaway, on the 15th there might be some bass around also. me and dad were working on gw today and were surprised by the weather in the morning and were thinking of you out there. we were just about to paint the deck and what does it do it rains so came home early after looking at all the ribs in the yacht club and dreaming about my own boat again. sam
Maverick Martin
Yep we are mad but you've gotta do what you gota do and another sunday at home working my way through an endless list of jobs to do was a definate no no. It was exactly as Adam described nice first thing, yuck by lunch time and bloody freezing. Just three plaice on Maverick all around 1.5lbs. but at least there's no cobwebs left between the ears Still an enjoyable day especially the swift half in the spyglass (we seem to becoming regulars there ) Martin

duncan
Good jobs guys - and theyr was spot on again with the weather! Loved the reference to a 'rollercoaster ride' and 20 knots - if you are doing 20 knots it can't be that bad, even downwind! Having got back yesterday, as posted earlier, I managed to cut and stack 3 trees adn get a good first cut on the grass before the rain eventually arrived at 2000h - so it wasn't all bad.......kidding! Paul D
Glad you all got out. I had the day down in Gunwharf Quays where the weather was sunny with a light breeze all afternoon as well. Plenty of boats out there as well. Noticed while we were there that there was a shoal of Bass ( I first thought they were Mullet but they were definitely Bass ) in one of the pools next to the restaurants there. What was impressive was the size of the bass. These were definitely double figure ones. ( Shame there were "No Fishing" signs around ) I wouldn't have been able to make the trailwaway anyhow as the bits to repair the outboard bracket won't be available until Tuesday. ( Also I would have been far to tired after the wedding I went to in Chichester ) Engine is serviced though and I haven't had to pay for it yet, due to late arrival of parts for the outboard. Deep Sea Dean
I too had an enjoyable morning. That was until the excess alcohol drunk the night before made an appearance. I'll never learn! Still nice to get out. looking forward to the next time we leave Weymouth when it will be over the horizon to fill our boots with turbot over the banks of Alderney
