Steve H
I’m looking for some advice on whether the moorings at Shell Bay are any good over the winter months. We were thinking of renting a mooring there just for the winter months so we can still get out fishing when the entrance at Christchurch gets shallow. They seem really cheap so I presume there must be some issue with them, any advice is welcome
2006holmwood
Except for being a pain to get to, unless you use the ferry, I have seen some of the Swanage dive/charter boats there on moorings in the winter. so would think is protected from winds. jerry.shutter
I looked at them before I went to Cobbs, I think they are fairly well sheltered but depending what your after it’s all pretty basic, difficult to get to, and it’s out on a limb so security could be an issue. Steve H
Thanks, we can’t really get out from Christchurch in the winter so might give it a go, it is a bit of a pain to get to but can put up with that if it means we can still go out fishing
Kingfisher 126
Have you looked into North Haven Club, there may be an option there and no ferry to worry about.

No I’ll take a look, thanks for the suggestion, most places I looked at don’t do winter moorings just winter storage

Maverick Martin
What about a temporary marina berth? Parkstone Bay Marina, Cobbs Quay, Rockley Park Steve H
Steve S
There is also Lymington Yacht Haven and you may be able to get on a winter mooring on Lymington Harbour if you can it will be low cost. Maverick Martin and Steve H
