gaffa
Diesel costs more to refine than petrol ,but I have no idea on pricing structure . Sometimes it has been: the same price, slightly more expensive, considerably more expensive, Rip off more expensive Be interested to know answer to this connundrum ...anyone any ideas???? Tarlach.
It’s more expensive because more people use diesel vehicles. If we all switched over to petrol, then petrol would be more expensive. It’s nothing to do with being green or anything else. It’s all to do with maximum tax revenue !! If your car ran on farts you we would all end up with a gas meter attached to our undercrackers !!! It’s probably the old north south divide. Everything up north is slightly cheaper than down here on the coast !! Steve S
The price difference between diesel and petrol increases every winter and reduces every summer. There is more demand for diesel in the cold weather for heating and the law of supply and demand applies. What gets my goat is the prices charged by Motorway services, a complete and utter rip off. I plan my journey to avoid using them. Tarlach. and Jim
Jim
3 hours ago, gjb said: because they want you to stop buying diesel cars green house things Nearly! Diesel used to be much cheaper than petrol. Diesel was the fuel to choose. We both got diesel cars. We were doing our bit for a greener planet. We saved on fuel costs. We did loads more MPG. The government kept setting tighter emissions targets. The car makers managed to reach the targets. The government checked how car makers could reach these impossible targets. GOTCHA! The government cried FOUL! Now all diesel users are devil worshipers and must be made to pay ! An extra 10p per litre on top of the already massive fuel tax! How many litres of diesel get used every day? How many 10ps are going into the taxman,s pockets? Ah well we can all sleep well knowing it's being used wisely! ! Did somebody " get me started " ? gaffa, sparky, 2006holmwood and 1 other
