2021 Species Hunt

Hi All,

 

Are there any rules for the species hunt as I can't seem to find any. Just wanted to know if a photo is required to i.d. each species caught and is there some of card that can be printed off to place in the photo as proof of the year it was caught. 

 

Any response greatly appreciated.

Mark, our club is run almost totally on honesty.  ie: if you say you caught a fish you did catch a fish.  If you are unsure of a fishes id then do post a photo and the members will help you out on the id of your catch.  Photos would be nice in reports just to spice things up a bit.  There are no large prizes to win so anyone who (shall we say) exaggerates their catches is only fooling themselves.

The only comps we run that require a weigh in is (I believe) our Christmas flounder comp and that is a purely social event which again only offers a small hamper plus other bits and bobs as prizes. 

When we used to run an annual open comp which was a little different as there were high value prizes which may have been tempting for some.  Also non club members could enter so in this comp we were shall we say a little more careful on fairness

Thanks for the clarification Martin. Best get my rods bending eh! Had 4 species on Sunday but hadn't joined the hunt at the time.

Regarding the boat species comp, does a club member need to be present on the boat? My pal (not a member) who co-owns the boat sometimes fishes without me and has caught additional species, can I count them?

Sorry Pete - I don't think that's in the spirit of the event. Catching species by proxy.....Get him to join the club.....

would suggest that your pal would be best advised to also join the Club Pete.

It was worth a try … I’ve tried to get him to join but he prefers to do his own thing.
