Member Removed Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 I'm looking for a trailerable fisher and am stuck between a Raider 16 and a Warrior 165. Any comments, good or bad, about either boat gratefully received, especially to do with engine sizes and performance. Also is there anyone willing to let me look at theirs!! ... or there's always the Predator??!!?? I have a Quicksilver 580 at the moment and wonder if I'll be wrong to change it but am finding it too hard to launch and recover?? Quote
great white Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Hi Dave ther are several warrior owners and a raider 16 in the Club so I am sure you will get plenty of info once they spot this post Happy hunting Charlie Quote
Maverick Martin Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Hi Dave I know which of the two I would go for but then being a warrior owner I would be a little biased I know after talking to you that you are having difficulty launching and retreiving your Quicksilver but take a look here and especially here and you will see with the aid of a good quality trailer you should have no problem launching and retreiving even at baiter. The day the Burnham guys came to fish with us they launched at Baiter 3 quicksilvers larger than yours at near low water with ease. If you think you might keep your current boat and would like someone to have a look at your setup for another opinion then just ask Martin Quote
Afishionado Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 If you think you might keep your current boat and would like someone to have a look at your setup for another opinion then just ask There is an easy way to use your existing winch to 'pull' the boat back off the trailer. It's easier to show than write an explination, so give us a shout if your near B'mth and I'll give you the sp. Mad Mike Quote

Check it out to see if it helps you. I am still awaiting a report on the 16ft Raider and the Samurai Look here My Webpage hope it helps a little. Would to hear your thoughts on your 580 so I can add that to the pages. Regards Coddy Quote
JIMBOB Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Hi Dave I have a raider 16 and am very pleased with it.When I was buying, I did find it hard to choose between a warroir and a raider I had been on both boats and is was a tuffy.I picked raider because Its the boat ive always wanted . But due to Dave Baxters recent death I dout you will see them in production in the near future. I also agree with what others have said about your boat ..re launching and recovering, its all about the trailer not the boat. Good luck James Quote
Member Removed Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 Thanks everyone for your replies. It would seem that I need to be looking for a new trailer not necessarily a new boat! Has anyone had a DeGraff roller trailer or know anything about them as there are some cheapies on Ebay?!!? Also, the Raider is evidently now being made in Poland and the first boats are due in the UK in September. Jimbob: Are you launching your boat anywhere local this weekend so that I could possibly have a quick look. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Dave we are trailing to Weymouth on Sunday early am, James is booked in to come along. Re DeGraff trailers I have seen them but do not have or know of anyone with experience of them. They look ok but the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say. Indespension who market their own brand Hallmark trailers now have a store in Stanley Green Road, Poole. I am picking up a brand new trailer from them on Saturday, they are nice people to deal with. The trailers look pucka even if a tad on the expensive side. I will give a report on the trailer when I have used it a bit Martin Quote
Adam F Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 But due to Dave Baxters recent death Is this true? I thought he just sold the company? I have also seen them advertising again - so they must be back in manufacture? DLP - The raider and the warrior are both cracking 16' boats - they both have their pros and cons, it all depends on what you want from a boat. As Maverick says you really need to get a trip on both of them. If you can make Weymouth on Sunday Ill have my 165 there so you could get a ride on both of them?? Adam Quote
Member Removed Posted August 20, 2005 Author Report Posted August 20, 2005 Thanks for the offer of the ride but I'm out on mine tomorrow - might even get down to Weymouth... or maybe not as it's a long way from Poole!! Perhaps we could sort something for another time. Quote
