Coddy Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Hi all, I have a bit of free play in the steering on my Warrior 165. i.e. the steering wheel turns a bit before anything happens. Is there any adjustment I can do or is it a new cable/steering box. The play seems to be at the steering box end, I can not feel that the inner cable is moving inside the outer cable which makes me think it could be the steering box. Does anyone know anything about these things? It is a No Feedback System if that makes any differance. Thanks Coddy Quote
Adam F Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Same on mine Dave - Its just a normal trait of the steering system, about an 1" movement? Quote
Seamouse Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Same here too, loosened off in the first few seasons. Steve Quote
Guest Peter Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I have the same on my Warrior 175 - it is due to wear on the worm gear and cable head it can be combatted by lubricating down the return tube coming out of the back of the gear unit behind the steering wheel. Turn the wheel so the cable is withdrawn hold the tube pointing upwards and squirt in some thickish oil hold till it goes down. Saves on buying a new steering gear!! Quote
Adam F Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Peter, A great tip from another Warrior owner....why not register on the site? Adam Quote
Sinbad Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I've just bitten the bullet and replaced the steering cable lock stock and barrell. It wasnt something i wanted to try myself, and had to pay the labour and parts -about Quote
