Christmas Eve. .........

Such a nice calm day, just had to get out.

7 am. out from Mudeford, crept over the Bar and onto a flat calm sea with very little tide.

Tried X - ray area first [ on the last of the ebb ] .......... but the predictable dogs and pout were in residence / tour de force !!

Took the opportunity to venture out to the 'Table Top' on the Dolphin Sands to try for the whiting Tom was catching a few weeks ago........... but not for me !! biteless after an hour......must be wrong spot.......

So a move across to a small wreck........... and bingo !!.......... on the first of the flood the whiting arrived with fish to 2 lb. 12 oz. and plenty of them, and in between, two COD !!!!, peas in a pod ............ just under 10 lbs each.

Then the murky water arrived from the dredging............ and everything went quiet!

The cloud cleared and a light breeze riffled the water but still a lovely trip back, with enough fish to last the holiday catering !!

Paul D. ; you went to the wrong spot !

Merry Christmas to all ,

Alun.

Nice one Alun

well done two more COD. biggrin.gif

After last week and due to the nice weather we decided to try the same area on smaller tides.

A lovely run out o a calm sea to arrive and anchor the wreck by 1000, first fish was an eel of about 18lb by 1015 Game on. biggrin.gif

The fishing was slower than last week and we baited with large squid or squid and mackerel cocktails to try and achieve Aluns result

we did suffer a bit of bait robbing from pout and the anchor slipped twice on what must be hard ground, but we had another good eeling day, alas no COD

Total catch 16 eels best just over 40lb.

All were T Barred off so the boat stayed clean for Christmas, to be honest Wendy did not want all the kit in the wash tonight or squid smelling and Conger slimed waterproofs in the Garage over Christmas.

We heard Gary was in to a few Flounders in the Harbour, but apart from Prodigy and Neo the radio was quiet.

Another great day to be afloat, kept out of Wendys way as final preps were done for Chrismas, had our lines tugged and it wasn't even cold enough to need a jacket on once.

Great, now bring on the Turkey and Crackers wink.gif

Happy Christmas all
