Paul D
Have been down to L&J Marine - seen the job they have done on Enticer - Looks good with the new E-Tec. Had a good chat with them and servicing is around

Adam F
Nice one Paul - 20 knots here you come!!! I will be v. interested in the Etec's as I will consider one on the replacement boat this year. Still cheaper than 4 stroke servicing Would have to dissagree - BW's Mariner has had 2 serviecs now by Select Marine, 1 each year....the 1st was
great white
Nice one Paul When is it being fitted? Charlie
AlderneyBassman
Love my etec 90 on my Orkney 21 My advice is to run it on the XD100 oil and get the extreme version. A couple of times in cold weather the 'no oil' alarm goes off soon after starting due to the normal XD100 oil being too thick. Using extreme XD100 will cure this. My fault for thinking Alderney is a semi tropical paradise Other than that she's a belter!
Paul J
everyones getting them! Heres Gazza's who picked it up today Gazza, pm me your email address and i'll send you the rest of the photo's Paul J
AlderneyBassman
Here in Alderney people thing Evinrudes should only be used as a rough ground anchor!! When I got mine loads of people thought I was mad and I was beginning to wonder if I'd bought the equivalent of a betamax video instead of a DVD player However I'm over the moon with it, and now there are a couple of guys wanting to go out for a spin to find out for themselves The revolution has started
AlderneyBassman
And now they've gone and brought out a 115hp That really would make the Orkney fly For Sale- Etec 90, only 7 months old, never been raced or rallied!! Reason for sale- owner upgrading
Gazza
As you can see from above i picked up my warrior 165 with the new e-tec on. After i picked it up i went straight to baiter to try it out especially after the fitter reported 38 mph on test run!!!!!!! I can safley say that a Garmin fish finder is no where near as accurate as there gps plotters!! I know it was a bit choppy but with the gps back on i got to 29.6mph before having to slow down choppy. I would like to know how other e-tec owners flush their engines through ie. mufflers or hose at the top thing please can you answer all welcome. o nearly forgot when you hit the throttle hold on to your hat and make sure you are sitting down!!!!!!!!!!! scary trying to email you Paul j thanks for the photo, did you do your prop o.k, try it out? Sinbad
Hi Paul Sounds really impressive ! - did you ever ascertain the max rating of the hull - is is weight of engine or thrust ? I'd be impressed if you get 22knts or more 2 up. We're all gagging to know how you get on with it. Paul
Paul D
Paul, Boat is booked in for fitting and I will have the engine sorted by next weekend Phoned Orkney and had a long chat with the guy there. Apparently the 35HP rating is not due to weight of engine or strength of the transom, it is due to speed of the hull through the water and the ability to turn the boat over if you had too much power in wrong conditions. So looking forward to testing the new engine out. I hope it doesnt have the problems that Mark B has had with his though - his engine cowling was cracked so he is waiting for a replacement to come. Paul D
Your money will be safe Rich, I think 22 knots should be achievable ( max speed rating of the hull ) and maybe 25 in flat conditions but I dont fancy going any faster. Sinbad
Paul At least you will hopefully have the option to 'throttle back' once on the plane, rather than keep looking at the throttle lever fully depressed, and checking it every so often.....just to make sure you are at full throttle........yup been there... have also been out on those balmy summer days with the sea like glass, and doing a nice 20mph, on my own, and thinking it could easily go another 50% quicker without any bother handling wise. I know its not quite the same as the way a RIB at full speed will plane, but it would be nice to offset the performance loss of two or even three up plus gear. Do you know what fuel economy to expect ? presumably you have the 22L tank - i was thinking it might be a bit small for a days zooming about ? Paul
Paul D
Paul, It will have the standard tank but I am going to keep my spare 12 litre tank up front and I am toying with keeping the old 25 litre tank but I guess that will be part of the trade in ( and I havent got room for it as well anyhow ). The economy I am expecting to beat the Honda - so 1.5 NM per litre at least and I am hoping for 2 NM per litre. Time will tell ! I know exactly what you mean regarding looking at the throttle - I was travelling everywhere on full throttle. Its been a long time since I remember what it was like to plane ! Anyone want to go fishing mid-week ?
