bootlegger
On the 6th of July we were leaving Parrkstone Bay by the slip, moored alongside was this open topped monster, with three 275 hp outboards bolted on the back. I can't imagine the size of the fuel tank or how much it costs to even start it. The tender behind it is an Arvor 20.
Maverick Martin
The engines look to be Mercury Verados. I have priced up a 150 verado and this came out at about 12k so a 275hp must be nearer 15k each so around about 45k of engines on the back of it. Fuel would be frightening for us ordinary mortals but just small change if you can afford that kind of purchase price Martin
Sam
he only uses it about once a year it's always tied up seen it out once and it was flying sam

great white
We saw that one out on Poole Patch last summer Its a big boston whaler with all those horses. god knows what a trip to the patch must cost??? Charlie
Sam
wrong boat dad the boston whaler only had two engines this is a big american thing mike i don't see the point of all that horsepower but wouldn't mind driving it sam
BigMac
I think you'll find that the boat is a Donzi. A mate of mine has one in the States, his does 60mph with two 275hps on the back but in this country the fuel cost would be prohibitive. He used $400.00 worth of fuel to go to the Keys and back (150 miles). That boat probably costs a tenner to start!!! Al
Newboy
I think the USA coast guard use 4 motors across the back of this, and it spends over half the time airbourne when on full throttle.
Adam F
Crazy Fred will tell you exactly what it is - it moors alongside Cyclone. Its an awesome boat, but hard to see exactly what is is used for in UK waters. Fred tells me he can get to the IOW from the chain ferry in 14 mins!!! Maverick Martin
Fred tells me he can get to the IOW from the chain ferry in 14 mins!!! Its 14 miles to the needles so that makes him doing 60mph wow
Wedger
I'll wager he has shares in polygrip........
crazy fred
well the boat actually does 75mph if you have the balls to open the throttles he usually runs on two motors Edited July 9, 2006 by crazy fred
Afishionado
I'll say it again ........WHY? In anything but a flat calm it would range from uncomfortable to bloody dangerous at those speeds. How much of the beauty of ones surroundings would one take in and savour? What's the point of all that speed? Or am I the one who has missed the point? bliss2
The young guy who owns that boat must like fuel guzzling machines as he drive's a Ferrari and has a big GMC truck too

Adam F
Mid Channel wrecking in 28 mins, or Alderney in under 1 hour - about once a year when its flat enough - an awesome machine - great in the Keys i imagine, but off the Needles on a sub zero, raining day waiting for a cod bite - I would rather be in our 'english' boats with the kettle on and shetering from the rain
