plaicemat
Tough luck, James. Nil desperandum, I once ended up with my knee in plaster during the sea trout run. Didn't stop me wading at night, though. All you need is good friends to keep an eye on you and get you in and out of the boat. I don't think you've any shortage there. Terry. TomBettle
He'll be fine. What he needs to do is team up with "Legless" and the two of them will have one pair between them. What more do they need? Only joking, bad luck James

Coddy
Hi James I nearly know how you feel. fell out of the back door the other day when my ankle gave way, had a cordless drill in one hand as well! Fell onto the drive and scraped my arm and fell backwards into next doors panel fence and just about distroyed that. Had to pay for a new panel as well! Give it a couple of weeks and I am sure you will find a way to hobble around on sticks. Take it easy and earn some of those brownie points! JIMBOB
thanks for your kind words guys. Day 1 has been hard going , we take so much for granted. I was in and out of wheelchairs and crutches for over a year 14 years ago after a nasty motorbike crash but you soon forget how hard it makes the little things. Today Ive been on my own so I made myself a cup of tea..."easy I thought"....until I had to get the cup of tea to the chair on crutches.......................... not an easy task James
alun j.
Isn't there one of those specialist 'shops' in Southbourne for disabled folk?? ; with specialised hardware for helping at home when you can't do things like this ?? Good luck mate.......... I still think you'll go mad unless you let some of us take you out....... on a nice calm day / night .........so you don't get too bumped about . Or you could be put in a coma for 8 weeks !! { I've seen them cure addicts like this to avoid the 'cold turkey']. Cheers, Alun.
pegleg
Hi James, Ive managed to nearly master the art of hopping around with a cup of tea in hand . But then again i only lost my leg 13yrs ago. Slow learner ehh. I found that the worst thing for me was probably having to rely on others for the simplist of tasks whilst i could not wear an artificial leg for one reason or another, and feeling frustrated with the lack of mobility. But it sounds like you have alot of good mates to get you through this. Jas

Swainiac
James...do you have to go back to have a refit on the cast after swelling subsides??? I expect that you can bang a sheet of poly around the cast..........get a leg up over the gunwalls..........and still manage to sqeak out a few Sole!!! On a serious note though, if you find that neither you nor your good lady can get something done, just give me a shout if there is something specific I can hlp with. Speedy recovery James, Rich
