duncan Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Looking forward to the event, thoughts of fame spurred on by PaulJ's obvious efforts (and some sucess ) with sponsors and prizes - so I thought I would do a little planning in order to increase what littel chance of success we might have on the day. Looking at the comp diary I see it shows a midday tide but also says Neaps; whilst most of the other comps showing Neaps list morning tides. Not having a tide table to hand I am struggling to relate these to the size of tide we can expect (and therefore where we might fish and for what). Are they a really small tide? Quote

Newboy Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 ...................... (South East 5-6 ) to be formulated surely 5-6 is a stay in bed with the wife?! Quote
duncan Posted October 4, 2006 Author Report Posted October 4, 2006 more like stay in the harbour but I don't reasonably expect the wife to want to get aboard the boat in November......... there are a few 100% specimen opportunities in the harbour itself so I wouldn't be giving up! Quote
Swainiac Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I expect that the congers released after last years weigh in are lurking about there somewhere! Rich Quote

Paul J Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 I'll be on Keith Arthurs Fishermans Blues radio show about 7:30am on Saturday. This is to promote the club and the Open Comp- if you want a laugh tune in PJ Quote
great white Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 according to my paperwork Sunday 12th Nov is a neap tide 0845 LW about 1.2m above CD 1130 1st HW about 1.6m above CD 1730 2nd HW about 1.7m above CD These tides were chosen to give those launching ample oportunity to do so without hassle and around the registration and weigh in times. They also give us a bit more chance to fish offshore if the weather is breezy on a flooding tide without a big tide stirring it up. Lets all cross our fingers for fair weather a good turn out and some good fishing. Tight lines Charlie Quote

TomBettle Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Gutted! The one and only comp I truly wanted to fish all year and I have gone and double booked a holiday away. Don't tell Abbie, but I would far rather be getting squid guts all over the boat than sitting on a beach in the Red Sea Quote
plaicemat Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Being a good mate, if it's any help, I'll swop places. Terry. Quote
