Hi all

My VHF ariel broke on Saturday whilst bombing around the harbour. sad.gif

Has anyone got any good/bad reports of what to get or not to get.

I think 1.5mtr will be the maximum length that will work without breaking again.

I suppose I will have to dispense with the club flag and my skull & cross bones as well! weep.gif

ps It will be fitted to my 165 Warrior if that makes any differance.

Coddy, I had a similar problem with my aerial.

Did the aerial or the mount break?

I had to replace both.

I replaced the old plastic mount with a stainless steel one and a new 1.5mtr aerial.

My new set up is much more substantial than the old plastic one.

Good luck.

Coddy, I found that the whips fitted to the 165's are about the best you can get for our boats - lightweights and strong - I suspect the reason for it breaking was the top end loading from the flags etc..

Strange how catching things are. Mine has done the same, losing the end cap AND my PBSBAC pennant. So, I need a new aerial and a flag. Bu@@er! Must speak to that nice Mrs. Wedger about a replacement.

According to the instructions on my new S10 VHF a shorter aerial is good because it works at steeper angles of heel, which rolling around in overfalls will give you.

The problem with me is forgetting to put the aerial down before trailing the boat home and reversing down the drive. The telephone cable from my bungalow to the BT pole gets it every time. Made a really strong repair to it last time but that resulted in breaking the telephone cable and a bill from BT for

Hi Guys

Just got back from Germany after a week away.

Thanks for the info, I need to get one this week-end so may well get a complete mount and ariel as JG Electronics in Weymouth are selling them quite cheap.
