Adam F Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Well, should have taken the rods! - what a lovely morning! To sum it up, absolutley chuffed with the new boat - what a machine!! Totally different boat to the 165... We topped out at 5200 RPM and 34 knots against the ebb tide in the harbour! Out past Old Harry, it was pretty snotty, but the 175 cruised over the chop as smooth at 30 knots as 10 knots Quote
Newboy Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Very nice, so how long is the 'I'm available to crew' queue? Quote
Paul D Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Looking very impressive Adam, I bet you are well happy with her. PS: What did you do with Gordon ? Quote
Bob F Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Adam, I'm amazed at how level she looks with one up. Did you notice any leaning to one side? I recon the 175 is the perfect boat for trailering. All I've got to say is Quote
alun j. Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Paul, Gordon jumped ship and was on Gastronaught for 10 mins.; I couldn't tempt either to wet a line ....... just as the bites peeked! 'Flash' Gordon has all the gear for sharp photos. ......even when half immersed in water. Alun. Quote
Adam F Posted March 4, 2007 Author Report Posted March 4, 2007 Did you notice any leaning to one side? Nope! She ran level and true and responded well to triming the engine - that said, after running her for only 1 hour, I think that trim tabs may further improve the ride (as they did on BW) The engine is the real star of the package - it gives blistering performance, a mega fast hole shot and is whisper quiet - I hope the SS prop gives me the extra few revs and improves this even more! The plotter was also ace - not alot more to say really, but the big screen is a real luxury. Quote
alun j. Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Adam, How well do you think that engine will do for economy?? Difficult to tell in only an hour's use..... but are there any gauges/dials to give you a clue?? You'll need to know before setting off mid-channel. What's the betting on first species / specimen to be landed on OOTB ? Looks like your plan for tomorrow or Tues is off? Alun. Quote
alun j. Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Just had another look [ following Gordon's post]........ you might be lucky with the weather!.......... if you get Tues. [from BBC] and Gordon gets Weds.[from Metcheck]! Good luck Gordon......it's bound to be lumpy after all these depressions and the big tides. Alun. Quote
Wedger Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 What a cracker Adam She's a beaut. It does mean however that I'm going to have to get up really early if I'm to make it to the mark before you Well done M8 Seee you on the tide.......... Quote
great white Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Nice one Adam she looks a treat 34 knots is no mean speed, the mid channel fish are now in easy reach when the right weather comes along Charlie Quote
jack Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Good Luck, with the new boat Adam.I am sure however,{knowing you } you will make your own luck !! Andy & jack Quote
Seamouse Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Out past Old Harry, it was pretty snotty, but the 175 cruised over the chop as smooth at 30 knots as 10 knots Lovely looking boat, Adam. The smoothness over a chop compared with the 165 is something that really stood out when I test drove one. That alone should make a big difference to your travel (and fishing!) times. Best of luck with her. Steve Quote
pegleg Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Well done mate . Me thinks you'll be grinning like a cheshire cat for a long long time . And of course at 34 knots you won't be able to stop yourself grinning. I think they call it the instant face lift, whether you need one or not. Reel em in Jas Quote
