Wedger Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Coddy How old is this chart as MAFF has been DEFRA / CEFAS for many a year? T Quote
Paul D Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Try these two NFSA Min sizes Specimen Weights However, I think Coddy's min sizes are more up to date than the NFSA one as BAss is larger now. Quote
Brian Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Am I missing something? DEFRA Minimum Landing Sizes (MLSs) for Flounder 27cm Recommended Retention Size Limits (RRSLs) for Flounder 25cm. How come the Recommended Retention Size Limit is 2cm smaller than the DEFRA Minimum Landing size? Quote

How come the Recommended Retention Size Limit is 2cm smaller than the DEFRA Minimum Landing size? I think that is because the MLS is the one specified by Southern Sea Fisheries ( it is mentioned at the bottom of the page on the NFSA web site. ) Quote
Maverick Martin Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I think you will find that the eec did away with minimum landing sizes for flounder so their is actually no official minimum landing size for flounder in europe. However the Poole and District Sea Angling Association (Which we are affilliated to) pushed forward and got the Southern Sea Fisheries to introduce a local bye law which effectively make the minimum landing size from the Southern Sea Fisheries area 27cm although ssf will claim it was their initiative Martin Quote
Maverick Martin Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 BTW Originally we (Poole and Dsitrict Sea Angling Association) wanted imposed a no go areas at teh top end of the harbour for flounder but the compromise was the local bye law relating to landing sizes Martin Quote
