Member Removed Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Had first trip out a couple of weeks ago on Bournemouth rocks and caught a bass and a couple of pollock - all 1-2lbs ish - Thanks for the info on that one Had a go on Poole patch for a couple of hours and got nothing. Going out for a long session on Wednesday, thought I might try christchurch ledge. Any advice on where abouts, bait, tides etc as have never been there? Thanks in advance Malcolm Quote
Gnasher Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 (edited) Welcome to the club mate the ledge is about half way between hengisbury head groyne and the needles Look for about 30ft of water and you will be on top of the ledge. worm baits for bream and wrass (decent cuckoo wrass can also be caught), whole squid for doggies, huss and bass. Squid strips for bream and doggies. Live baits for bass. Whole maccy for big bass or big night time conger. (a bit early for some of the mentiones species, but its a basic summer guide, but the bream, wrass, doggies and Huss will be there in numbers) (numbers not to hand, i will PM you some before wed, unless someone else does it, but please don't print them on the open forum Dan Edited May 13, 2007 by Gnasher Quote

alun j. Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Malc, You don't have to go all the way to the end!! Lots of good spots along the 'edge', the drop-off into deeper water on the west side of the Ledge. Look to be in 12 - 18 m. of water. Alun. Quote
