guess it happened really quickly!

 

Which I suppose a 45' yacht would do without a keel?? Wonder how that happened?

 

They were lucky with the time of year - 30 mins in winter would have been touch and go....

That is what happens when several tons of ballest comes off

 

Suddenly the centre of gravity and the centre of bouyancy change places and the Yachts mast decides it should be the keel. and she does a 180 degree roll.

 

As Adam says they are lucky we are at mid summer and the water is warm for this area. and that they were very close to the helecopter base at Lee on Solent

i was out on sunday and we heared the coast guard saying that a fifty foot yacht had sunk do you think this is the same 1

The report was dated saturday so I doubt it. There must have been another incident on Sunday

Where were you in all that wind?

 

We were tucked in the bottom of Christchurch Harbour....... cosy in the occasional sunshine...... and saw the big red\white helicoptor go over, really low [ Don't wave!!], and off out to sea. Thought it could have been a windsurfer, as they were the only ones that ventured past the Run. A few big boats went past us.... and out ... but were back within minutes!
