duncan Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 believe it was a Farr 45 Paul - and interestingly that the Mayday was via mobile on 999.......guess it happened really quickly! Quote
Adam F Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 guess it happened really quickly! Which I suppose a 45' yacht would do without a keel?? Wonder how that happened? They were lucky with the time of year - 30 mins in winter would have been touch and go.... Quote
great white Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 That is what happens when several tons of ballest comes off Suddenly the centre of gravity and the centre of bouyancy change places and the Yachts mast decides it should be the keel. and she does a 180 degree roll. As Adam says they are lucky we are at mid summer and the water is warm for this area. and that they were very close to the helecopter base at Lee on Solent Charlie Quote

alun j. Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Tony, Where were you in all that wind? We were tucked in the bottom of Christchurch Harbour....... cosy in the occasional sunshine...... and saw the big red\white helicoptor go over, really low [ Don't wave!!], and off out to sea. Thought it could have been a windsurfer, as they were the only ones that ventured past the Run. A few big boats went past us.... and out ... but were back within minutes! Alun. Quote
