Shropfisher Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 Hi guys, I was out on a charter on Wed, Flamer, great days fishing, first time w2ith the shads and we boated 15 bass between us ( 5 on the boat ) which leads me to my question : Based in Poole what is the cruising time to Weymouth ? taking into account an average speed not too excessive, probably around 12 - 14 knots.. and weather not blowing a gale, say 4 or better.. it's 45 mins by road, but thats a winding road and slow traffic, but then theres tides etc. Quote
Adam F Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 Hi, Ive never done it - as I tow (car fuel is cheaper per mile and is free!) However - I'd say you would be looking at 2 hours depending on where you were in the harbour and how fast you can run... I do the Sky (wreck) from Poole regulary and launch from baiter - it takes me about 1 hour, so I'd figure about another 30/40 mins depending on where you want to go - the bill is probably 40 mins. I'm sure Martin or Duncan could give you a better idea.. Quote
shytalk Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 1.5 to 2 hrs depending on conditions and tide Quote
duncan Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) I cruise a bit faster and at about 20 knots it's an hour from Poole Harbour entrance to the Shambles banks. From this you can see the faster you cruise the more relevant your travel time through the harbour........... Finally if you are on your trailer anyway then if their's West in the wind trailing must make sense as having launched at Weymouth you have shelter available that you would otherwise be bashing through. Finally you can relax a little earlier when trailing - launching at Poole and running all the way back in in the evening before then recovering makes a long old day!
