bootlegger
Simply Red is out of the water. Having stripped off the old rubbing strakes, side and rear fenders and ripped out the old fuel tank and one of auxiulliary brackets, she is now having her hull stripped ready for her new livery, which funnily enough wont be red, but will be blue. New teak inserts for the new aluminium and rubbers strakes are going on and then the hull will look superb. (Just the top sides to do later then). However after commissioning the work (abot

Coddy
Hi Tim Sorry to hear of all the problems you have encountered. I am sure she will be fine after all the work has been carried out, just a shame that you have missed so much fishing time this year and had the piggy bank robbed. If you ever fancy a break and want a fishing trip, can't guarantee any fish however, just give me a call. Regards Coddy

bootlegger
And of course to add insult to injury after stripping back the hull we have discovered two small patches of osmosis. However, my luck does appear to be changing, the patches are very small, they are just above the anti foul line and therefore we have rubbed them out and have washed the pin pricks out, we can now fill them with epoxy and raise the epoxy hull protector to a point above them without ruining the lines of the hull. We checked the patches with a damp meter and thankfully it showed no moisture in the hull at these locations so we got it early and therefore can stop it. PS Dave fired the moisture meter at the hull (below the deck line) and the moisture meter went off the scale, I nearly had a heart attack, then we realised the bilges were still full of water. At least Dave thought it was funny.
toerag
I nearly had a heart attack, then we realised the bilges were still full of water. Errr... you can get osmosis from water in your bilges too you know, and any dodginess in keelband attachment will be found out by wet bilges! Get her really dry and flowcoat them if they're not already - makes for a cleaner, more waterproof bilge.
