hey guys, im on the scrounge! i dont really fancy bream fishing this spring and intend to try a wreck or to, 'coz i love hard fighting eels. Im after some inshore wreck marks (not clan as i have it) that have a decent eel population. I go out of mudeford so poole marks will be no use, and i dont really want to be going more than about 8 miles. I did have Betsy Ann, but wiped it by mistake (i may have it written down somewhere but cant find it), but i never fished it so i am not quite sure how close this is, or how good it is. Also, is there any pollack to find on these, or do i need to try further in the distance?

I have plenty of christchurch marks i can trade if need be (clan, xray marks, bream ledge marks, iow bass drifts, etc)

not a lot of pollack on the inshore ones

given your range I would have thought you would be best off the south of the Island - there are a fair number of wrecks marked on the dive sites and equivalent available online. if this is over 8 miles then you are probably out of luck!

problem is that if the conditions are good then the sea is clear (er) and the eels seem to stop feeding during the day. Really coloured water or after dark and you won't need to go very far at all for eels to 60....

Don't limit yourself to the inshore wrecks.

If the ones local to Christchurch are anything like the ones close to Weymouth then the reefs and rough ground are far superior, but night tides are usually more productive.

I may look south of the island, thanks Duncan. Tom, i have plenty of areas that i have had good multiple hits at the back of the ledge after dark, and have had plenty on the clan, but i just fancy a bit of a change thats all. (so after a PM of some numbers)

I could maybe fish further, but its a confidence thing, even with a buddy boat i can still get a bit twitchy!

There was a wreck finder on here, that i think Coddy posted, but cant find it in the archives. although it may not be completley accurate, it had lots of useful info on it and also gave me wrecks names that i could look up on the net and i found looking at the history of some of the ships interesting (sad i know). if anyone can locate it, that would be great!

Dan,

As others have said - bout 8 miles to any decent wrecks from Mudeford.

The ledge is awesome for eels, but you need a night session, a little bit of tide, but not too much and some chum.... ph34r.gif
