Adam F Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Very good. I want one..... can I have one.... have I got one?? Quote
Sinbad Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks Rob Very interesting! - we were only doing 20mph on the basic Yam instruments (battery problem wouldnt run the plotter...) But I was looking at Alfresco and commenting to richard on how 50% of Alfrescos hull length was out of the water (i.e planing) and how I wish we had an extra bit of water line length - at the same speed Alfresco was planing with her bow clear, we were slamming occaisonally, but it looks more stable than it felt. However it was a great run in, smooth sea. I wanted to trim the bow down a bit, but there wasnt enought alernator/battery power left to operate the trim tabs.. Edited January 1, 2009 by Sinbad Quote
great white Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Paul your instruments are close, We were doing about 19 knots on the plotter. Offshore told me that if we fitted trim tabs the bow would come down more for a better ride in rougher seas, but so far I am quite happy with the ride I hope the barttery snags are sorted and we see you afloat soon. Adam F Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Also - dont forget that the hull designs are different. Isnt Alfresco more of a planning hull compared to Imagine's Semi-displacement?? Good vid's though. Quote
Rob Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 Paul D - how did you insert that video clip, can you tell me how to do that please? Rob Quote
Rob Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 Her you go Adam and Bob : Joint Venture Video Quote
Sinbad Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Adam I know what you mean... Alfresco was definitely planing at the same speed - with more of the hull out of the water - conditions were so flat - The orkney is not a deep Vee as you said, but because it takes a bit longer to get to a full plane, I have to use the trim tabs a bit to adjust the angle. Although above 20knots - you dont really need them as the engine doesnt have sufficient power to 'porpoise' ooh er.. Nice video of the new boat... Paul Quote
Paul D Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Rob, You need permissions to add the video embedded. great white Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Nice shots I want one of those flypast ones now I might even let the boys open her up fully just to see what angle she runs at Charlie Quote
