Gnasher Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Most of the reef will produce fish, although certain drifts are better than others , as will drifting in amongst the pot bouys off hengistbury head. Make sure you have a decent length of flourocarben though. I would advise joining the club though, as bass are pretty sacred amongst this lot, and i'm sure you will get far more info if you were a member mate. TomBettle Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 For those reading and not sure who Lemon Sole is: He's hoping to become a junior member of Poole Bay after getting extremely enthusiastic over on Worldseafishing. He has a small rib of his own, but sadly his own family has no interest in boat angling so he needs as much (sensible) help as possible. The obvious difficulty is that as a junior it is very hard for us to simply invite Lemon Sole for a beer at the next club meeting, but I feel positive that we shall all make him very welcome on the forum and with his parents full agreement we shall make him very welcome in the club. Don't lose your enthusiasm Lemon Sole. People are naturally a little cautious at giving over their hard earned marks to someone who is essentially a stranger AND giving them on a public internet site. Get your Mum and Dad to write or come to the club offering their full support for you to join in (and they obviously understand the potential risks) and in no time you'll be catching 50lb Conger and 10lb Bass. Rob Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Alex, If you spend time out on the ledge you will see boats drifting for bass - small private boats, charter boats a-like. You will pick up bass in locations that people drift and also in places where you just have a go. You have to be in it to win it!! I have drifted marks in my boat yards behind or infront of other club boats and one boat may get fish and the other not! Even two people in the same boat can yield amazingly different results! Get in the habit of checking everything carefully before you go and do not take risks. I am sure there will be plenty of days/light evenings when you can get out in calmer sea, and the fish will come.
