Jim
Does anyone know a good TV aerial man, based in Poole. I'm happy to pay the going rate. I just don't want to get ripped off by someone talking bo**ocks and blinding me with science. It's for my little old Mum. It's just about the only pleasure she gets now. And her Free View keeps Freezing up. Jim
plaicemat
I had that problem and sorted it with a signal booster, bought from B&Q. I'm assuming she already has a digital style aerial. Terry.
Jim
Thanks Terry She's got the same aerial that was there when she moved in - nearly five years ago. I presume it's just an old fashioned Analogue one. The TV is a Philips LCD with built in Free View. Her picture has always been crap in this house ( Upton ) I have heard that Dual aerials are available which can be aimed at two signal sources at the same time. Anyone know of this ? ? ? Barney
Jim I fitted a TV amp to sort mine out and distribute it to 6 rooms. Spoke to a couple of trade suppliers and was pointed in the direct of a SLX amp and high gain ariel. Fitted amp and tried with cheap old ariel in loft. New quality ariel still not fitted 2 years on perfect picture on all 6 tv,s Maplin sell SLX Amps 2 way up to 8 WAY Edited February 25, 2009 by Barney
Paul D
Jim, With digital TV you will either get a perfect picture or one which breaks up ( as you have ) - there is no in between. Amplifier may do the trick but not guaranteed. Bigger aerial or one tuned to digital frequencies is best route but at the price surely worth trying the maplin amp first ? Not so sure about the dual aerial, doesnt sound feasible to me - prob for different channels ?
