Just looked at the Calendar,

Next Sunday 19th July - Lure only Species Hunt.

Let's hope that " Nasty old Weather Man " Gives us a decent day for it.

Went out this weekend, on Friday and Sunday, forecast was wrong both days !!

 

Wind direction was sort of OK, but instead of the 8-11mph predicted by Metcheck/ BBC/ Windguru, we had a good F4-5.

 

Fishing was rubbish to say the least, but the mackerel were very obliging, and at drift the boat was reasonably stable.

 

Just made going back 'uphill' against the waves very wet, with the odd green one going over the top of the cabin

Abode was out Saturday at 5 45am on the slip, hoping to go for Bass ( plan was to tie an invisible rope to the guru of Bass fishing Alun & Adam ) but visibility was c**p. So we stayed close to the chain ferry and the entrance to both sides. We did not get a touch all morning, still lots of weed about.

Had a window, so we shot out to Swanage. Out to try the races at 15 knots, returned at 23knts but still no Bass back on the slip12.15pm

Arrowflash was out a few times last week as the NW wind was light am. My Rappala (J13) lure did the business yet again at the harbour entrance & I landed 5 bass from 2.5 - 3.5 pound. Not v much weed or other boats around which made it all the more enjoyable.

 

Freddie, my 3 year old son caught his first mackerel with the help of his Mum off Bournemouth pier & some lovely bbq's were had by all at our caravan at the weekend.

Even a Three year old lad has caught more than me this year !

 

Give that lad an extra slice of cake, - - He's earned it !
