Hi all

Well after nearly 2 months since Lady C broke down and had to be towed in I hope to put her back into the water next week-end. smile.gif

Downside has been the cost of the repairs. weep.gif

The problem I had when I had to get a tow in was the steering yoke spline had worn away, so I obtained one from the USA at a good price compaired to the UK.

As the Volvo leg had to come off to gain access I discovered that water had got into the leg and just blown the oil seal where the drive shaft uj's are so when I removed the bellows I found a wonderful oily mess.

So I found a repair shop in Littlehampton who is offering a good deal on labour charges for repairs. Seems that when it was stripped down 2 bearings needed replacing and a complete seal kit required and a few other bits. When I got the bill I nearly fainted but was assured it was totally rebuilt and overhauled.

It would have been cheaper to buy Trev's old leg.

If you have had or got anything marine Volvo you will know how expensive the price of parts are and they just increases by the minute. sick.gif

Next the prop was cleaned up and reaired with a tweak to the pitch to help increase the revs, thanks to Prop Solutions and thier expertise I hope to gain a few more kts and a good price was given to me as a club member.

As I had repainted the hull earlier this year I had to take the name off so I ordered a replacement, now when it comes to letter size 5" looks quite a good size but when on the boat it looks huge! Well at least you will see the name! laugh.gif

With a quick touch up on the antifoul and a few other jobs done she is almost ready.

Thanks to Paul for the loan of his trailer, it has worked a treat.

Will report how she runs soon but I think I will have to get my sea legs back after such a long lay off and in the good weather as well! ph34r.gif

Great to hear you're just about there Dave!

You've missed less good weather at weekends than you might think, and hopefully you'll make up for it when the weather eventially improves!

Looking good!

Will be good to see you back on the water Dave.

Re costs take it from me it doesn't have to be Volvo to be expensive just anything marine will cost an arm and a leg, been there earlier this year and still recovering weep.gif

Keep us informed of Lady C's progress

Sorry to read that you have had so much hassle & expense, hopefully you can now get out & catch a few dinners.

Had to be towed in myself last year by my mate in Saltern's Marina as my stator (& trigger) had to be replaced on my Mercury 60 HP outboard. Cost me hundreds of

Nice Pics Dave, looks a super job!!

Glad you managed OK with the trailer and I was pleased to help - I've been missing her a bit, but you hang on until lady C is finished.

Hope you get back on the water - second half of the season is often more productive...

Hurrah

Lady C is back in the water and seems to work ok.

We launched at 11.30 on Sunday allowing an extra hour of water to come in just in case we had any problems.

None occured and she floated off the trailer without a hitch.

Engine started first time and the recon outdrive worked as it should have done. In fact it did seem a lot smoother proberly due to a now balanced reconditioned prop thanks to Prop Solutions.

A quick trip down to the ferry terminal just to check her out but due to conditions it was not the time to give it a good work out.

Back onto the mooring and then home before lunch and the F1.

Thanks to all for your help and assistance given.
