    Spring Species Hunt

Poor day on species hunt for Neal & I, although Neal had a plaice first drop in the harbour followed by a small bass. I managed a bass and a whiting. We had a trip out to the patch but no interest, similarly with a couple of drifts off Branksome Chine and tied up, again fruitlessly, in Brownsea Roads before calling it a day. Weather was good in patches but not good enoiugh for us to go too far out.

    First Swallow

I saw my first swallow of Spring today. This might not be monumental news, but it's one of my personal signs that the mackerel and bream aren't too far off now... Roll on Summer! Mike

  5. Fisheagle Species Comp. Results. Unfortunately only Allan and Jan fished due to Dave's late withdrawal. Fishing was hard work and the weather very mixed. Several moves on the Patch gave only one wrasse and a couple of other species. The secret ray mark saved the day with 18 dogfish, three rays, a tiny whiting and a small turbot and brill. Jan was beating me by 6 species to seven until the last ten minutes until my tiny spinner and small worm on a size 10 hook caught me a little bass, so the scores were seven each. Total boat species 11. Jan dog small eyed plaice pollack Ballan turbot bass Total 7. Allan dog undulate small eyed whiting pouting brill bass Total 7.

    AGM

Thank you to all of the committee for last year's hard work looking after us. Thank you all for accepting the rolls again. I know we're frequently short on saying Thank you & Applauding your efforts but EVERY re-election was unanimous. Take that as a BIG THANK YOU from us all. Good to see so many people turn up ! Some with a very long drive. Thank you to Lofty for being the Kayak rep and the offers of help to any kayakers. Thanks to Sandy & her ( not so glamorous ) assistant for running the raffle. Thanks to Carol, Mike & Dave for the life jacket clinic. I am proud to be a member of this great club. Jim I know Rob's going to say something about Long Drives. The queen probably has the longest at one of the palaces !
