TWO DIFFERENT DOCTORS! - FUNNY! But so true. Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint? Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement. The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week. The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then. Why the different treatment for the two patients? The FIRST is a Golden Retriever. The SECOND is a Senior Citizen. Next time take me to a vet!

Can you not get your hands on this engine if a runner? I have a spark jump tester if it runs at all - you can open the gap to see if the spark will jump across when running - a healthy spark should clear 10mm - you can then check they are are the same. Borrow if you wish and i can find it (sure i will be able). My Yam has a wax stat choke \ prime start - on carbs 1 and 3 - (4 it total) - but lasts for longer that 20 seconds - more like a few minutes. R

I would not go for a MF 805, I had one for a few years. Good bits Cabin area is fine Sun deck on the roof can be great also good for diving off The main or Volvo engines are very solid and give little trouble. Not so good bits Quite noisy underway as engine is under cabin A wet boat lots of water over the front which can affect visability (I tend to take my boat out in most weathers so may not affect you) Rear deck space is quite small but ok for 2 to fish The fuel tank was not big enough for me I always seemed to be thinking about filling up. I got about 1.8l to 1nm out of it. Getting to the anchor locker in poor weather was somewhat risky. Need to take care in a steep following sea as the stern can try to catch up the bow... Need to be on and off the throttle to manage it. A bow thruster helps greatly with close quarters handling. Can't comment on a Rodman.

As it's cast steel, brazing may be a better option as a lot of heat and pre-heat is generally required.

One other serious consideration then Neil, My Mrs is always complaining that we are usually in the shade when out on a sunny day. This is because of the long high cabin and the short rear deck area and depending on the wind or tide direction, dictates which direction the back area is facing. Very often it is not facing the sun. It is great in the Marina as we face south but not so good when out on the water. I would imagine this would be the same for the Rodman?

In my opinion Neil If you are wanting a fishing boat with good deck space then I would not go for either of them. As you know I have a Merryfisher 805 and it is basically a caravan on water, good fuel consumption and a good safe family boat, but not a serious fishing boat. Three anglers on board would be a crowd, two is really the limit. On the fuel consumption, From Cobbs Quay to the Needles and back I used £54.00 of fuel this year. I can not judge between the Rodman and the Merryfisher.

Are the plugs firing in the correct order? Have you got 2 back to front? R

Was following a couple of Facebook discussions this week where anglers we shunning Alderney trips due to the gradual demise of the fishing. Certianly our experience has been one of gradual decline in the last few years. A decade ago it was a real Mecca, somewhere a long way off shore but where you could virtually guarantee good fishing compared to back home. Is it a phase? Or do we have bigger and faster boats and more people go, is it now was fished out as back home? Discuss?
