Two nephews first fishing trip, all happy😀

Out with Glen today - steady start - 9am. Decided to try the harbour for the day and moored up off Hamworthy. Straight into small bass and a few black bream. Ballans and a baillons put in an appearance then Glens new spinning rod took on an alarming hoop. Net at the ready to see three scad of around 1lb each coming aboard. That was a surprise. Then it was back to catching small bass interspersed with several gobies. A lovely day out with shelter from the gusty breeze all day.

Out with Ken with a view to target rays - wrong. Ist stop was off ballard in a 2 knot tide - a littler too much for rays generally - but not for the mini pirannah-like black bream which wrecked every large bait we put down instantly. After a couple of hours we moved to the ray mark and suffered the same consequences - as witnessed by Sparky last Friday. Last resort was to drift for plaice at the training bank - 2 hours later not a sniff from a plaice but for four feisty tubs we eventually had a bend in our rods. A brief drift in ther harbour also blanked. Even the lazy mackerel lines were fishless - no surprise there then..

Good to see you out there Stuie, we did find lots of Mackerel in the end about a mile off Durleston and a stunning red Gurnard. Great success with new small fishermen on board.
