Well Graham, I may as well go first: Myself and Rob left Lake Yard at 08.00AM and travelled round to South Deep, where we joined Kingfisher, Reel Magic and Boblin. The day did not start off that well for Rob as he realised that he had left his lunch bag in the car back at the car park. (that old chestnut!!!) Luckily Carol had packed some nice orange glazed Ginger cake for us both and I had cooked Chicken Egg Fried Rice the night before, and yes luckily for Rob there was enough for two. We had a steady flow of the usual schoolies and then I landed a Guilt Head Bream....Boom, my target species and one of my favourite eating fish and one I need for my species list. I then landed a Black Bream which put up a nice fight on light gear. Shortly after that the rod bent over and the reel started screaming. At last a huge Guilt Head Bream tanking off...... well that's what I had hoped. Unfortunately, it was about a 6 to 7lb Smoothie which Rob duly landed with the net. Rob then landed a Black Bream. The target fish were hard for us to find today and were certainly not large, but we did have some sport and no shortage of fish coming aboard, albeit not the right ones!!! So our results are as follows:- Me - Guilt Head Bream 1lb 1.5ozs Black Bream 1lb 6oz Rob Samways - Black Bream 15 oz So all still to play for Graham.

Just enquiring Jerry, The Bream comp is normally in May when the large fish are in. Do you think in mid June the fish will still be around? I am up for dates scheduled. Thanks. Cheers Greg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well done Charlie and Mick, Sounds like a great day's fishing. I was so close to going out myself but decided to jet wash and clean the boat in stead!! Marlin is coming out of the water tomorrow and trying to clean the boat's cabin on the outside, I would be taking my life in my hands on the hard standing. Too old for that sort of thing now!!. Roll on the spring. Any whiff of a Bream Comp date yet? Greg

You are supposed to take this thread seriously you know Martin !!!! π

Look forward to the photos Jerry. Also, I would be interested in what the locals say with regards to the warming temperatures of the sea and how it is affecting the fishing down there? Good luck, Greg

Thank you Martin (AKA Gummage) for saving the day and joining me on Marlin. Having been not fishing for 5 months this was a must do event. We caught the 07.30 bridge and set off for a drift in the harbour entrance to see if there were any Herring about. There were none!! My second part of the plan was to tie to a buoy in the Witch channel and fish there for a while. So we made are way off to the buoy and I could see Madness in the distance coming down Wills Cut and I had a sneaky suspicion that Madness was heading for the same buoy. This became apparent when I saw him cut across the end of Wills Cut. Unfortunately, we got there first and the look on Chris W's face was a picture π. Any after few expletives coming from the Madness crew they buggered off with their tale between their legs. ππ We settled down and had a steady flow of small Bass coming on board, The weather started to settle in and Jerry called us to ask if we were happy to get the 13.30 bridge back in. Fishing conditions were certainly not ideal!!! We were quite happy having our cups of coffee, mince pies and Chicken Fried Rice, but we agreed and all met up in the pub for a few drinks and plenty of Banter. Despite the weather and lack of species it turned out to be a great day. Thanks again Martin for joining me and special thanks to Jerry for organising the event and raffle prizes it was well worth taking part. π And a Very Merry Christmas to Everyone
