Hello Andy, welcome, when we go to Alderney I will have some crayons and tracing paper to go and do some brass rubbing around the island. Much better than wasting time in the pubs like some members do. The competitions and trips are well organised and good fun, hopefully Neil has told you about these. Andy, the best port (for this trip) comes from Lidl, a bit pricey at £6.50 but tastes great after 7 hours at sea. Martin has to turn his nose up at this as the committee are only allowed to shop in M&S or Selfridges.

Here are the anodes after 10 months in salt water. Basically to change in the water I can just lean over from the swim platform to get at them. You can't check the connectivity if replaced underwater. Water pressure behind the anode causing them to drop off if replaced underwater sounds like a wind up to me!

Cobbs are in my view heading for an exodus of boats. They are cutting all previously enjoyed benefits ie lift out bacon sandwiches and coffee are lacking this year, virtually no parking which as a customer I feel I am entitled to, no fishing competitions in fact they are in my view getting greedy and will in time pay for their short sightedness

It's been a while since I've been a newbie anywhere, so I'm basking in my newfound "Minnow basher" status on here! I've been fishing for 30+ years, boat fishing for the last 5 or so. My boat is in Langstone Harbour and I mainly fish the east and west wight areas - from Selsey to St Cats to the Needles. This year I'll be crewing for @Tarlach on our Alderney trip, so I thought I'd better sign up here and get to know some of you beforehand. Tight lines all!

So a year on, how did the aluminium anodes do? Well they worked fine, no evidence of electrolysis on the legs or props. The anodes have all been eaten away a bit but here the REALLY GOOD NEWS, I don't need to buy any new anodes this year, yippee! quite a cost saving. I'll post some photos of them next week after I've been down to the boat but I'd thought I'd let you know now in case anyone else want to reduce their anode costs by 50%!
