Well, with the removal of the "stay local" constraint on exercise, I tried the rods using existing reels on 2 local beaches. The difference is incredible, they really launch a lead and baits with so little effort, and am already achieving decent casts of way over 100 yards (the old target back in the 70s) with bait, from little more than semi-powerful lobs. I know the species don't count for our boat comps, but so far have seen: Bass (first fish on each rod) Flounder Whiting Dogfish 5-bearded rockling A total of 10 fish in two sessions, so taking a few boat skills shorewards does work. George also had all of the above, and added smoothound and plaice to the list as well. Hoping to visit Feisty again after 12th April, and maybe stay aboard if it's warm enough. Not long now...

Hi everyone, just joined and paid up for the 2021 year. My name is Mark and have a Warrior 175 (Skipper) that I launch from Rockley. Been there for the last 2 years since owning the boat...my first one! Really looking forward to meeting up with like minded boaty people and particularly looking forward to a few more trips out than last year! I'm not a local lad...live up in Wiltshire so a bit of drive (55 miles)...but get down as often as work allows! stay safe everyone and I'll see you out on the water! Mark.

  3. Great weather window, so a trip to check the boat and drown some worms. Big tides limited things a bit but drifting down the front and past the piers gave us a really wonderful welcome back to the real world. With nets and a trawler out to annoy us we had some lovely Plaice to a PB 50cm on a new rod, Dabs, Tub Gurnard, Whiting and a beautifully marked Thornback. The boat worked well, the fish obliged, the weather was kind so a perfect day. Can anyone ID the spherical egg casing I caught?

Hi Mark, I don't know if you remember but I use to have a 175 down Rockley and use to chat to you sometimes ? I got fed up with Rockley in the summer , sometimes 3 boats wide on the pontoon then all the tackle to unload so went up a level in boat size and now at cobbs on a pontoon, so far i'm loving it. hope you are well and will see you out there one day Gary

55 miles away, practically a local, I'm in Oxfordshire but have been a fairly active member since 2004 so, get involved, meet the crew and enjoy the best club on the south coast. See you out on the water. Terry.
