Well what a great fishing day that was. I was the only person fishing as Brad was doing the go pro and Carol was taking the still photos and galley maid!! (With regards to the photos seems like I was the only one to get the memo!!!) Brad will be compiling a You Tube of the day which will be uploaded to the club's website when done (hopefully) I caught a total of 38 fish on the day (Carol was also fish recorder!!!) However, I only had a total of 8 species. If the day was about catching fish for the table then I would of had a bumper feast. Bass of 3 lbs 46 cm long, 2lb Black Bream and a plump plaice which I did not weigh approx 2 lb ish. However, in the spirit of the day I put all the fish back (including the plaice). (Oh except for the mackerel which were lethal for Tope Bait) Species Caught: Dogfish Black Bream Mackerel Tope Ballan Wrasse Pout Bass Plaice The highlight of the day had to be the Tope out on the Spoil. We were inundated by the Tope probably because of the abundance of Mackerel. Mackerel were caught on every drop. Even my 3 hook feathers were full on one drop. Same with the Tope, they would not leave us alone as I was trying for a Conger and Undulate. I was even catching them on squid. They were feisty buggers but really great sport.14 points

Hi All what a great day on the water with Norman and his Son Dave (Not in the comp) Dave had 4 species that did include the only Red Gurnard on my Babby. Norman had 5 Species Dogfish, Pout, Bream, Ballan and baillon's , Me 13 Species Spotted Ray, Dogfish, Conger, Tope, Mackerel, Pout, Goldsinny, Poor Cod, Baillon's, Bream, Goby, Corkwing, and Rock Cook. All in all a great day I owe Dave a drink as he shouted just as my Tubertini was going over the side with the tope, that will teach me not show Norman how to rig up for Tope.2 points -

Endeavour 3 is hopefully going out tomorrow. I’ll likely have a crew of unsigned renegades from wilts so just me entering. Going back to the herring grounds!2 points -

Bugger, It looked hopeful a week ago, but with the high slipping North and winds in the channel the weather window is now firmly closed. I think we have all agreed to try one more time in June.1 point -

After the aborted trip to Alderney Tigerfish's crew (Alun, Graham, Ian, Steve) spent the Sunday on the Shambles, being the next best thing. The sea was flat enough but the fog was an unwelcome companion the whole day. We had turbot fairly regularly throughout the day, the best going around 5lb and reasonable numbers of keepers, many were small, just one brill. There was enough launce around and happily quite a few mackerel, some caught near the bottom were of very decent size. An enjoyable day in good company, the boat was washed down and made shipshape in record time, thanks guys. We had our AIS on as did Loobie IV (very sensible in the conditions) it was nice to have a bit of a chat mid way through the day. One commercial charter had anchored plum in the centre of the banks; Oh yes they had their black ball raised but in the dense fog I thought it was risky. We drifted on collision course with them and took avoiding action, but with such little visibility it would be oh so easy to not spot them in time. Ian (who else) politely suggested to the skipper their actions were inadvisable. It was an accident waiting to happen. No photos, however I did use the waterwolf. There is still tons of footage to go through, some of it interesting, most not. I'm planning to turn the interesting bits into a video and upload to our YouTube channel, that won't be for a few days yet.1 point

Is it me or should the van be giving way to the boat anyway. Best person to ask is Lofty, as he has just done his RYA Level 2 !!!!!!!!1 point
