'Well his boats on fire and he's only got an 8" landing net.......and look at the state of his coffee mug!!' were my first words to Chris (my son) when stepping on board Loobie IIII. Luckily the smoke turned out to be the cabin heating firing up for the first time this autumn and the landing net turned out to be for the live bait tank (what do we know!! 😂). A kind invite from Jerry saw us on C pontoon for 7am Saturday. A glorious morning with much lighter winds than forecast.....t shirt weather by about 11am. What a boat! I had to keep checking we were actually doing 20knots as it felt so smooth and quiet. We headed out for a drift for bass in swanage bay but things weren't happening and what wind there was was over tide making it lumpy. So plan B and anchoring on a bank for the morning. Once the tide turned we had a steady flow of species......8 in total. The best being bream to 2lb 1oz and smoothhound to 6lb 2oz. A move after lunch took us to another bank and Jerry taught us the fine art of uptiding which produced a number of rays, not weighed but the best probably around 10lb. It was probably an average day for you Jerry but it was a great one for us so thank you very much for the invite. If you'll have us back I promise Chris won't wash your reels down with the salt water hose or spill coffee granules everywhere 🤣

So, anothe Autum, and JoJo heads west with Adam as crew. We went to Plymouth this time, a first. Been to Dartmouth, Mylor Falmouth and Mullion Lizard before. I wanted to see the Eddystone, I think.it.is iconic. We had scoped out a slip, as Adam I and were in Plymouth a few months ago looking at a Cheeta Cat for JV replacement (it did not become the actual replacement). Where can you got with 2 super wide and accessable slipways with free parking? AWESOME! We headed down Thursday pm, to a questionable campsite, but, it was convenient! Friday we headed out with plenty of burley and frozen bait. We launched and headed to Eddystone in the fog. Could not see it for ages, then it appeared put of the mist, having heard it for most of our journey. Featherd some macs (to 1lb6oz), tiny fish busting ther surface, oil flat sea, amazing. We used the electric outboard for some movement, as wind and tide were near non-existent, and holding us still as working against each other. We many interactions with dolphins, saw (mostly heard) whales, all day and a single blue. Hearing dolphins on or tuna was a game, what would appear from the mist..... could be either. Great scenes of both!!! Day two was similar, but much better vis. Dolphins, tuna, whales (minke), awesome, what a trip for the wildlife alone! No sharks, I said to Ad, we have had them as packing up before. Reeled in a couple of rods, I saw a shoal of 100 2" fish moving behind the boat. We'd seen these earlier you but not in such formation , I the. Noted, they are following a small blue. it then took a pollack we had chucked in fromntje coolbox of macs.game on last call. Again, nothing big, but welcome. Weather was awesome, good company, what more could we have had? Superb. R

Had a great day thanks, 14 species, over 40 fish, including two Axillary Bream, caught about 3 miles apart.

Your boat is much larger than mine, so I should easily be able to drop from that 12mm. The 16mm BTW was a "marketplace" find for a price that I couldn't refuse.

That sounds good. I use the Alderley method too but i was concerned that pulling the anchor in with 3 strand 10mm would be uncomfortable for my crew. (It wouldn't hurt me, because I don't pull it in 😀).
