  2. Looks like you made good use of your day Jim. You are right the weather was kind out there today,. Had a busy day Started out in 100 ft, and before long the dreaded doggies were nicking the baits. Then rays took over. Small eyed rays up to 6lb 6oz, then a few blondes. The tide got up quite a lot, and sods law the biggest one got tail wrapped and was really hard to pull against it. I had the leader but could not get it to go in my net. Just out of reach it spat the hook. It counts but would have been worth weighing. At least 12lb or more. Not willing to do that again I moved inshore and picked a new spot to try. I put the kettle on to cheer me up after having to leave feeding fish. Blow me before I had a cuppa I had another small eyed, and while the tide was ebbing several more up to 8lb 6oz. I had a first ever for me, two rays on a two hook trace. Last one of the day just before a 4 o'clock finish, was the only undulate today at 8lb 7oz So sorry that you missed out Jim, I hope that you get over it very soon.

  4. Lovely start today(Tuesday). Crossing Christchurch harbour. Hope to fish the needles channel for Bass The plan was to use the obliging tides at Christchurch to put in before nine and retrieve any time after 4.30 and fish the infamous “Bridge” by the needles lighthouse . We would go by way of Hurst castle use the Ebb to drift us along likely looking rocky marks on the island side of the channel this drift , in the light winds it would take us gently down to the Bridge where it can get evil. 🌊🌊🌊🌊 We aimed to arrive 2 hrs before slack water to fish the Bridge proper and possibly up to two hours on the flood. I was optimistic. There was a long rolling swell out of the Harbour but no chop. E 3 planed and cruised all day at 18 to 20 knots so we could get there easily in a half hour. We had time up front to go plaice fishing at Southbourne. An hour of this produced one small plaice. Nets were everywhere. Then we set about executing the plan. And it all went to perfection except for one thing . The Bass didn’t seem to want to play. Slack water was half hr later than the Christchurch harbour table . We waited til 3.00 .We noticed other skippers waiting for the flood whereas We’d fished the Ebb alone.🤔 Anyway We didn’t want to stay there in the fading light And decided that the last hour of daylight would be better spent nearer home so we went back to Southbourne and whilst james was sneaking forward for a sly fag (don’t tell my daughter) his Rod started to go overboard. He just rescued it and after a hard tussle afforded us a photo…… We were running up the channel at 5.00 and out by six. No Bass were hurt in the making of this report.(Apart from one which was pulled out under our noses at Mudeford Quay)🤨

I've been OK ish today but still feel a bit iffy. Not even going to have any beers tonight so my guts can settle a bit. 🤕 Jackie & I enjoyed a Pecan slice at lunch and we'll have ½ each of the other tonight. I bought 3 Jam dough nuts too but they've gone in the freezer. Been using my time wisely though. Jackie's sister had broken the door catch on her tumble dryer and can't find a replacement. So in the words of Star Trek "I replicated one for her" (the purple part) Modelled on the computer then 3D printed. Not quite right. Needs a slight tweak and I'll print another one tomorrow. Wouldn't want to get bored would I ? 😀

Sod's Flipping Law ! 😭 First time in ages that I can go out. Charlie was kind enough to offer me a place. I got cakes. I got bait (Squid and Party Squid) Rods are in the car. And I go and get dodgy guts. 😪 Not safe to be out on a boat so Charlie has gone on his own. Looks like a good day to be out Charlie. Hope the fish are playful. 😪😪
