  1. Graham..... Thanks for that mate... Just to try it all out......I have toyed with the Idea of an old 4 draw filing cabinet as a smoker housing. with an old BBQ "box" in the bottom draw to generate the smoke, and racks for fish in the draws above !! Where do I get the wood chips ..... and what is the "favoured" flavour ....or does this differ with the each species of fish ???? Need to get some inside info and try it all out before forking out loads. Dave
  2. Mike .....I bought a 6-12 Kenzagi at the end of last year too and intend to match it with my old Ambassadeur 6500-CE 2. speed (30lb braid) ....auto shifts from 6.1:1 to 3.8:1 at a user select setting... Should be an awesome combo !! Bring it on !! Dave
  3. Stuie .... I sit next to one of ur mates and his better half at fly tying on a Wed eve ..... bu**ered if I can remember names any more...... Age thingy I think !! Anyway ..... I am wanting to get this smoking thing......hot and cold ... sorted out 'cos the trout recipes all get a bit samey .. not a great lover of simple baked trout !! Must have a chat at next meeting !! Well done on the pollack and getting the trip sorted too. Dave

    Mako nails marlin

Interesting hit by the mako .... mid to tail end.......then switch to the tail end.........Disables the 'drive' and has the large fish 'dead in the water' to devour at relative leisure !! Wonder if this is a typical hit ???? Dave
  12. Well done again James et al ...... Good report and pics mate. I can't even get motivated to clean and repair my little boat ready for March at the mo Dave
  13. Trev Only heard about Hamer when first opened........was good fish. Personally I am not a fan of the lake ..... too exposed and featureless but hey !!! Top lake at Whitesheet does still get a bloom and gets difficult at times. We have just had a very interesting chat on the phone about fish quality and what is expected of farmed stock fish in the 24hrs after stocking so I will creep out of that debate. AND will stay well clear of the personal age and weight / condition debate too I have replied to the PM Dave
  14. Hi Trev Christchurch Angling Club use Trafalgar .... pretty relaxed relationship ...fish taste good and generally in good nick .....there are exceptions. I mentioned that when I popped over to you when you very kindly tested my battery !! If you want a telephone number .... let me know ...... rates may be an issue because of our longish relationship with Trafalgar.... They generally re-stock once a week based on the records of fish taken....pretty standard procedure I think. With four lakes in total (3 at Whitesheet and 1 at Hamer) and a good head of club member / guest flyflickers I imagine the returns are pretty good. Dave
  15. Well done Ben .... wonder what the performance would be like with a couple of outriggers on too !! I wouldn't enjoy taking my 16 ft boat out in the f6-7 .....ur just crackers !! Dave
  16. Hi Steve ...... As Zippy said I used a 7 amp hr for my gps and fishfinder without a problem for the season......lasted me 7hrs and more on a full charge depending on how much I used the gps........ I used a seperate one for the vhf ( a real drain) and elecs .......as Sprinter says it gave me options. I managed to get a 17 amp hr ( golf trolley battery ) which runs both but still take a spare 7 amp hr because they are so light and easy to store ......and the vhf gets more use out in the bay. Hope that helps Dave
  17. Happy Birthday Paul Dave
