Hi All Just to give credit where it is due .... My 4 hp was playing silly B*s and would not start .... Phill had been recommended to me as a garden machinery man previously and had serviced my lawn mower on site at very reasonable cost..... While doing this he noticed the boat and we chatted about fishing etc.... He mentioned that he is a member of the COASTGUARD at Boscombe / Southbourne and gave me some safety hints.... HE ALSO MENTIONED that he can service my outboards for me .... Cutting a long story short.....he came to my house and sorted my 4 hp in very smart fashion and was very reasonably

Ok.....getting close and I am thinking about arrangements.......Will be my first time on shogun....so... Need to know ... 1/ Times 2/ Location ......And parking 3/ Travel arrangements ....are we all going solo or are we meeting up and travelling in groups of 2 or 3.... 4/ bait requirements....I know nige you suggested Paul D squid as a main but what has been arranged ... and do we need to bring some Maccy back-up or even more optional squid ? Sorry if this sounds a bit mundane to the more experienced in these matters !!! ALSO if I am being a bit premature... soz too. AND last Q .... if weather is marginal at the Needles does RT/ Shogun stay in the solent??? and have crappy days removing weed from rigs and not catching fish ??? or does he cancel ? Dave

Trouble is that we are a world of selfish, lazy and greedy individuals who waste and/or store (often until we waste) far more than we need. This is what makes the "market "so large and the excesses so viable. Even as I chat......i realise I have a fridge and a freezer with about half the contents that will either frost or rot to the point where I will dump it. There was a programme on tv the other week where chefs created a banquet out of food that was being dumped by supermarkets ...... the "sell by" dates on food is a con that encourages waste. We as hunter / gatherers used to store food for seasons. Now it is days !! Commercial interests and financial gain have led us down the path of a death by a thousand cuts .... the way back is a slow and arduous one and no one wants to make the first step on that path so it is now all about short term "solutions" that "appear" to address the issues........ ointment on a rotting / infected wound. The problems still fester on !! OOps sorry ..... got carried away a bit there !! Mackerel definitely not as abundant as when I was a kid .... nor as big !! Dave

Been there twice in my short 3 years aboard Merchant Navy cruise liners. Both times on the "old" ORIANA ....once in the Channel and once in the South Pacific..... Both scary ... even as trained crew, the drill being ingrained and automatic... still not an experience I would wish on any one !! Hope there is a happy ending.. Dave

Hi I am taking the boat out at Baiter on Monday at 2.30'ish and wondered if any one would be an "extra pair of hands" for me. My son was going to be there to make the "three"...but has now got other commitments. I already have a someone who has kindly offered to help......but an extra pair of willing hands is just in case !!! It would be purely for the recovery onto the trailer ... once on the trailer it will be down to me. Weather, wind and tides look favourable Monday and (to a lesser degree) Wednesday BUT as we all know these windows change so easily. Dave

Rob...... Will do the charter with the club boys and hope that there is some crewing opportunities in the Winter months to get my cod .. Now or Never and her trailer has limits for me and I don't think it is cost effective keeping her in the water for one or two trips in the Winter. Daylight, weather and tides to juggle too... all between School runs. Takes a lot of fun out of it when you are continually "on the run" to make target times. Zzippy/Mark.... I will be there a bit later but hopefully see you mate.. if not ....tight lines !! Dave

Thursday looks good to me and tide allows a window for me too......Yipppeee !! Reckon this will be my last foray from the swinger......next week is my time to get boat back on the trailer and snug on the drive for winter. Dave
