We have a spare single bed on tigerfish if you don't mind sleeping in the same cabin as Alan.

I can make the reserve dates, I set both aside when they were first set down, at least some of the crew can make it, not checked with Alan yet.

Good question Charlie, given the forecast, there may not be much value in it Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Happy birthday Lads. So we know who the beers are on tonight! Steve

We seem to be forecast to be right on the edge of it, could go either way . Yesterday for Friday 9th MSW was showing around 21mph at Kimmeridge, today 10-12mph Tenderhooks time!

Franklin Flyer has got me curious too Charlie I'm thinking Maris Hall night one as well, Terry has our crew booked in for the other nights We will probably make earlier starts as we are all on the boat (a good deal earlier starts than last year I hope...) rather than stay out late, I just can't do both for more than one day any more . A get together early next week would be good, Monday is better for me than Tuesday as I have to get down from Basingstoke. Steve

A checklist is handy for boat launches and recoveries, especially if it not a very regular event. I wrote one out after reversing the trailer down the slipway with the towing board still attached. It never did work very well after that....

Thanks Charlie Those tide times are well handy for fuel. Last year I crept in to get fuel with 0.8m showing on the board on the ebb, I had the legs up to beach, it was very marginal.

Sorry I'm not playing that game

I spoke to one of the charter skippers during the week, he said the Turbos are coming on round Alderney now. One boat had I think he said 40 on a trip of 4-5 days I assume including 2 20s

Nice one.

Sorry Steve, call me thick or something but what are you on about?

Have a good one Jim, you choose a nice day for it. I'm in China, it nice here too. Steve

The BCC recently reported that satellites of the GLONASS network experienced a half-day outage when bad data was uploaded to spacecraft. This gave position accuracy figures of 50km out! "What we saw last week was many people being affected by the GLONASS failure even with receivers that were also picking up GPS." http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-26957569 Seems like this was maybe a human error thing, but given the current situation with Russia other thoughts comes to mind, like a tester for degree dependence on Russian systems. Anyway for fisherman, it just shows blindly assuming Global Navigation Satellite Systems must be always correct could lead to tragedy. On a more technical point my system only supports GPS, on the systems that support GLONASS (and others) as well, is the position a perm of all of them, or can you choose which system to follow, or can you also get warnings if there are significant positional differences between them? The latter could be very handy.

Tigerfish On Lymo Yacht Haven Wavescreen at high tide
Steve S posted a gallery image in Members Albums Category
From the album: Steve S - Boats and Fish
Fresh from launching, Tigerfish looking as good as new after a massive bout of polishing, varnishing and painting. Fantastic location by pure dumb luck really, keep pinching myself we got it, right by the entrance, and no boats nearby.© Steve Scott

I've found Greenham Regis very good, they fitted all my Lowrance kit, Andy Haynes at the Lymington/Southampton office is very good to deal with and a fisherman to-boot. . They may try and match your price for the items, then you would have a local supplier in case of problems and a one stop solution, something not to be undervalued.

Lowrance and Simrad are all part of the same group, they should work together, why not ask Simrad the question. I used a Lowrance broadband radar for nearly 3 years when they first became available, they are a good bit of kit, the normal blobs have some shape to them. They can only have improved since then. Are you planning to fit it yourself? Glad you made it back, I can imagine the stress levels.

Good stuff . Even measuring got to be hard to do in a Kayak. Anyway I think its about the buzz of getting a big one from a wee boat.
