Well it was nice to be out with approx 160+ anglers fishing the Cod Comp.
Weather wasn't too bad while the tide and wind were going in the same direction ( Flood) but got worse when the tide turned. It was still fishable and much better than i was expecting from the various forecast reports.
Fishing was slow with only a few Whiting and Dogs for most of the day until Duncan hooked into something a bit heavier.
A Nice cod of just under 15lbs which netted him 3rd place and a nice cheque for
Did a spot of Trout fishing in the morning, very pleasant and my mate and i had the whole fishery to ourselves, caught a few and let'm go
Lovely day, looked like a good Cod Day
I have an older ( Black Max) abu 6600w star drag with a thumb bar.
This does not like re engaging after freespool on occasion which is really irritating.
A quick thump on top clicks it back in, one of these days it's going to loose me a good fish.
I've had it fixed once but it's starting to happen again. There is a cog which needs bend slightly but it's a real fine adjustment and a complete hassle.
Kam
some of us learnt a similar lesson earlier in the year.
Since then i have adopted the approach to always where a lifejacket, all the time.
It's one less decision to make when the your in the pooh and it's probably the most important
Cheers
