  1. I guess it's easier to do this now we have a database which can be filtered by species. It's getting people to report fish that'll be the issue, even then it'll only be a sample rather than a representative number of fish caught. If we do this perhaps a seperate list should be produced so not to blur the current records/trends?- just thinking out loud PJ
  2. Well Said Peter I must admit i get sad when i think of the amount of fish taken off my local patch in a week. Sometimes it's easier to bury your head and not think about it PJ

  11. So what did go on? Was the comp fished? Did it require fish to be retained? Who won and what with? Anyone know? cheers PJ
  12. Im in both camps on this one Graham makes some excellent points about having our say and not being done to because we cant be bothered to give our input, however: There does seem to be too many surveys which only seem to line the pockets of those you are employed to do the surveys. Perhaps i can get a job doing this too PJ

It's far removed from what we do but it is a great Video. Provides me with a bit of fantasy during this lovely weather ( not) Riding High
  15. Well done guys, i know first hand how frustrating a cancellation can be The work you guys have put in has made this event a very high quality one and it keeps getting better each year PJ
  16. A difficult one for sure I personally think it would be a shame to have to drop the % of retained fish. I know that there might be more prizes than fish caught but i wouldn't want to be at the wiegh in to witness it PJ

  21. John The link to the report is here Report In short the fishery was assessed for substainability so they could be awarded a certification or status if they passed. Certification is deemed to be a good marketing tool for their product and probably has other benefits also. They failed it Thats a snapshot as i understand it PJ

  25. Nice one Gordon Bass Spines can also put holes in yer rubber duck but as a diver im sure youre well in your comfort zone. Cardigan island and the rocks near the hotel should hold Bass and pollack. Lots of seals around there who are partial to the odd salmon and seatrout. I caught my first ever Bass on a lure from Poppit sands PJ
