Why is this? i have never had the coastguard butt in and say i was transmitting on 16 instead of the selected 6 while on dual watch- is this the issue? Markee, get some of our mmsi numbers, it helped us communicate this weekend as everyman and his dog were on the vhf being bank holiday Paul J

  17. You could always run a tube from the inlet to the bottom of the tank Im goiing to run it from the top as too much turbulance at the bottom where the fish hang out can stress them and knock off scales. I have a rule 500 and i think it's a bit strong so the 360 would be better. the fish swimming clockwise is a good tip Im going to put in two outlets, one of which i can cap off. This allows running the tank at 1/2 full when im using smaller baits and means im not carrying the extra weight when i don't need it. PJ
  18. Went out of Christchurch about 10am with Des (my brother in law and new member) as crew Plan was to drift along southbourne for plaice and see if the beach replenishment was still having positive effects on the fishing. Wind was blowing nw 4 and the tide was fairly slack but we still had some good swells to bash through on the Ledge and it proved too lumpy to stop at xray. We made it inshore off the beach at southbourne and spent the day drfiting on the wind. It was fairly pleasant with the sun on our faces bobbing along but there was too little tide to give us a good drift pattern and consequently we blanked. Went over to the ledge for the start of the Flood but it was like a rollercoaster so we surfed in. Fun to be out but no fish-- try again next week PJ

  23. Alun, Any fish is a great result, I too sat on top the cliff this morning looking out for you ( 9am) feeling very envious knowing my destiny was to spend all day in the office. Saw 4 boats on Poole Patch but nothing near Christchurch due to low water at the Bar. What does catching a fish feel like?- i have forgotten Paul J
  24. 7.6c in Christchurch harbour yesterday PJ
