  1. thanks for info lads, just rung Silva support, apparently there is an extra piece of cable not shown in the manual for boosting the NMEA signal from the GPS. Nice to know you can rely on a manual eh.
  2. I have just purchased an S15 DSC which I am trying to link to a Garmin GPS 128. I have connected the radio NMEA out from the GPS to the +ve on the VHF and the NMEA -ve to the GPS -ve as per the instructions. The GPS has the correct sentences but still wont show the GPS locations on the VHF. Anybody have one of these sets that they have fitted and is working ok?.. KK

    New Engine

For running in it needs to be 100:1 for first tank, supposed to fully lubricate the engine?.

    New Engine

Well had the engine fitted and took her out friday night, lovely smooth run, quiet as a mouse with no nasty vibrations, steering improved to. Only one thing that slighty concerned about was trouble starting after she was left for a while, could this be due to the 100:1 fuel mix for the first tank ?. Ps had a cracking session on the Bristol Channel, 20+ congar, 8 Rays, 10lb Cod, 9.5lb Bull Huss.
  5. Thanks for that. I knew someone would know.
  6. On the Bow roller when at anchor there are two holes drilled for a pin to stop the rope pulling away from the roller. I must be going mad because I can't find it listed as "bow roller pin" or as an anchoring accessory am I mad or do these exist and what are they called. Thanks ..... KK
  7. Sorry to cause such a dispute with what I thought was going to be a simple answer but the 16 year old engine has a much higher consumption than newer models, may just be a timing thing and if it is running on a high fuel intake than this will probabley affect performance. like most things, age affects performance. Not expecting miricles but it does seem to use an excesive amount. Anyway I did purchase the Mariner and will let you know on the performance if I spot any.
  8. thanks for the reply guys, as it is going to be a new engine I think i'll take your advice and get it fitted. Looking at the Mariner 60hp ELPTO hopefully this will give me a bit more power and fuel saving than my current 16 year old mercury 60hp. Just hoping I can part ex this against the new one for a bit of a saving.
  9. Thinking about purchasing a new outboard for my warrior 165, now reading a few articles a lot of sites recommend having it proffesionaly fitted. What do you think?. is it easy to find balance or should I just find a local fitter to do it and save myself the hassel.
  10. have a look at www.mac-batteries.co.uk very good service and not badly priced.
  11. Bristol Channel at Cardiff, Penarth Area we see everything from partly submerged trees to wheels, beer barrels. plus we have a very large tidal range and the tide runs at high speeds so spotting the rubbish coming is essential.

    Lighting

I have my Warrior 165 fitted out with the standard Nav lights. I do a lot of night fishing which means when travelling I have someone forward with a searchlight scouring for trees, logs etc. anybody use any other form of fixed searchlight or spots for this purpose. any ideas greatfully recieved.

    Metcheck

Take a look at this site, it seems helpful. www.xcweather.co.uk can even be used on your mobile for current and historical data
  14. Nice Mods, just out of curiosity what size are your fuel tanks as I only get one in my storage area and the spare has to be stored under the bait buckets.
  15. Wow this lot will take some investigation, but thanks everyone for the info, will let you know what I decide and how I get on.
  16. Sorry, should have been a bit clearer, coming down from Cardiff area, vehicle is a 4X4 Pajero so no problems with that. We were looking for somewhere easy to start with where you can launch and retrieve at even low water should the need arise, preferably with some decent fishing, but
  17. There are a few companies now offering a policy where you get back the entire value you insure it for, obviously you pay slightly more but it might be worth it on some models.
  18. Being quite new to this boating lark I am looking for a nice comfortable launch site, down your way where we can have an easy days fishing without to much hassle. Any info on sites or marks would be gratefully recieved.
